Maximizing the Space in Your Small Office

Maximizing the Space in Your Small Office

With a small office, the amount of usable space is always at a premium.

With a small office, the amount of usable space is always at a premium. So what can you do? First, think about selecting the proper arrangement for your space. Next, focus on organizing your space while making storage a priority. Everything should be in its right place. Third, try to find the furniture that is the proper size. Please read on to learn more!

Proper Arrangements

When you’re working in an office without much room, you might feel like you’ve got no elbow room. If you want to avoid the feeling of working in an overcrowded closet, try to open it up. Creating the proper arrangements of space involves some forethought. To make the most of the pre-planning process, you’ll want to make measurements of the office space that is due to be upgraded.

With some measuring tape, you should be able to determine how much square feet you have to work with. When you know how much square feet you have available, it will help you choose the furniture that will fit the available space much better. Measuring the dimensions of the space will also help you determine how to best orient whatever furniture you select. If you are someone who thinks better through visualization, then by all means, you shouldn’t hesitate. A pen and some graph paper can help you sketch out a rough vision of what the new room should appear, at least in theory.

Organization and Storage

Next up, make sure everything in the office is as organized as possible. Having increased storage options will be an immense help for this step of the office design process. Don’t be afraid to liven up the shelving and file cabinets you have in your office, either. Giving it some pizazz or assigning color codes for different items might help keep your work areas less cluttered, too.

Finding the Right Furniture

Whether you find that you need modular furniture, or several other options, American Design Associates can assist you in finding the right furniture. Massive desks and heavy bookcases might give off a sense of prestige, but may not always be the best solution. Also, don’t forget about the chairs! Comfortable seating can make a big difference, and being able to fit your chair underneath your desk can open up the space you have available as well.
