Preparing for an Office Move

office move

An office move is the perfect time to replace old and unused furniture.

Moving your entire office is all too often one of the most stressful and overwhelming endeavors. Your employees probably have very little experience with whole office relocation, and poor planning means things are bound to go wrong, which could cost your business big time. Here are a few things to prepare for your office move so you don’t get caught off guard.

Set Up a Schedule

Setting a schedule can help you avoid a lot of trouble. Once you’ve determined your move out date, make a list of things you’ll need to get done before that day arrives. And don’t be afraid to get your staffed involved early on. It’s not a one person project! Delegate responsibility and set up a committee to help you stay organized and on top of things.

Communicate With Movers

You can avoid any unfortunate surprises when it comes time for moving day by communicating with your movers. Investigate the exact terms of the services they are offering, and double and triple check that everyone is on the same page when it comes to dates. The worst thing that can happen during an office move is a misunderstanding between you and your movers.

Prepare Your Furniture

This may be the most dreaded part of an office move, but it’s important. You’re going to need to empty out drawers, clean desks, and make sure your office furniture is in good condition for moving. Think of this as a good opportunity to start fresh. Disassemble pieces of furniture that can’t be carried whole and always keep track of any loose screws, bolts, or other essential components. You don’t want to starting off your at your new place with a wild goose chase.

New Office Plan, New Office Furniture

Planning out your new space in advance will save you both time and stress. Get familiar with the place ahead of time so you can develop an idea for where your furniture is going to be placed. An office move is also an excellent time to clean house and get rid of any furniture that’s no longer being used or needs to be upgraded to more modern equipment.
