Celebrating World Health Day with Ergonomic Office Furniture

world health day ergonomic office furniture

We’re celebrating World Health Day by thinking about all the health benefits of ergonomic office furniture!

Last week we wrote a blog post about why your back hurts at work. Well this week we have something similar to talk to you about. Today, April 7th, is World Health Day, sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO is using the day to bring awareness to preventing diabetes, but we thought we’d take our own office-furniture-y spin on the day, and discuss the merits of ergonomic office furniture to improve overall office health. Here are our two cents.

Ergonomic Chairs

When you’re talking about ergonomic office furniture, the piece that will come up the most often is probably your chair. (Keyboards don’t count as furniture, right?) Like we mentioned last week, failure to utilize a properly ergonomic chair can result in plenty of back and neck pain. Ergonomic chairs can help improve your posture and make sure that all of your muscles and joints are supported in a way that will keep you healthy in the office.

Other Ergonomic Office Furniture

Ergonomics doesn’t confine itself to chairs. Other pieces of office furniture should have ergonomics taken into account as well. Your desk, for example, should work in tandem with your chair to keep your keyboard and monitor at proper typing and viewing height to keep your upper back, shoulders, wrists, and neck from straining. A standing or height-adjustable desk can provide plenty other health benefits simply by eliminating the all-day sit.

If you’re interested in learning more about ergonomic office furniture in honor of World Health Day, please give us a call. Remember, we’re furniture consultants, not just furniture suppliers, so we’ll always be happy to answer any questions you may have and assist you in any and every part of the process of acquiring office furniture.
