Replacing Dormitory Furniture During Winter Break

Make sure your dormitory furniture needs are met during Winter Break!

It seems like just yesterday that this year’s influx of freshman arrived on campus for the first time. But now, with Winter Break in full swing, you’ve come to learn that the dormitory furniture you bought last summer has some problems, or perhaps didn’t fulfill every need, and you need to ensure that you have everything just exactly perfect when the spring semester begins next month.

So, what can you do to ensure the next semester is better than the last when the students come back?

Check for Durability

If you didn’t know earlier this year, you probably know now: dormitory furniture is subjected to much more wear and tear than average furniture. It sees a new owner each year, sometimes twice each year, and needs to hold up to the variety of activities that college students seem to get into. When considering dormitory furniture, consider quality over cost: you want to choose the most durable and attractive piece of furniture you can, since the cost of replacing cheap furniture quickly adds up over time.

Saving Space Creates Space

Have you had complaints about cramped dorm rooms? Of course you have. Probably on a weekly basis. So now you need to look for dormitory furniture that can save space. It’s no secret that many dorm rooms are tiny and need to sometimes hold as many as three or four people. Consider buying beds that can be lofted or bunked to provide students with more room for activities. Lofting beds can fit a desk or chair underneath, while bunk beds obviously save the space that the second bed would have had to fit in.
