Learn to design your classroom.

There may come a time during the school year when you notice that your current classroom setup is ineffective.  Whether it is in the middle of the year or right before the school year starts, you want to design an effective and productive environment.  Designing your classroom isn’t as hard as you might think.  Luckily, there are a few simple tips you should follow when designing your classroom.

Analyze Your Room

Before you start moving items throughout your room, it is important to take a step back and evaluate your current environment.  You should make a note of what is effective and what elements need improvement. You need to know which areas need to be clear of clutter and which areas need new furniture.  You should come up with ways to improve the seating arrangements of your classroom so that your students can be productive as possible.

Storage Is Key

When designing your classroom, it is critical that you eliminate any potential for clutter.  The best way to have a clutter-free environment is to have to design an effective storage system.  You should create a system where students can turn in assignments easily without creating any unwanted clutter.  There should be a place for every item and school supply in your classroom.

Focus On Lighting

One of the key components to any successful classroom design is the type of lighting that is used on a daily basis.  You should try to use as much natural lighting as possible since it is should to increase productivity and increase the energy of individuals.  You should limit the use of harsh fluorescent lighting because it can cause eye strain and headaches. If you have access to lamps, try to space them around the room so that the space is well-lit all of the time.  Look into lightbulbs that mimic the effects of natural lighting.
