4 Quick Tips to Help You Organize Your Workspace

Organizing your workspace can really help you accomplish more every day of the week.

Are you feeling the pressure of looming deadlines and mile-long lists of backlogged tasks? It’s time for you to get organized! Organizing your workspace can really help you accomplish more every day of the week. Figure out an organization system that works for you and just go with it!

He (or She!) Who Has the Most Notes Wins!

Keep a note pad on your desk. Stay away from multiple small notes, because these will only add to the clutter in your workspace. Relying only on your memory seldom yields great results. Anything can happen throughout the day that will distract you. Jotting down a quick note in a notebook can really be immensely helpful. The paper won’t forget what you said!

Don’t Shy Away from Color

Color coding files, documents is not childish. It can actually give your productivity a significant boost. Labelling things is great, but if you color code your workspace, you will only have to glance at something instead of taking the time to read a label. For scheduling, you can write different types of meetings in different colors. For example, a meeting with a client may be yellow, but a meeting with a team of your coworkers may be blue. Then, you can put the documents you need for your client meeting in a red folder and the ones you need for the other meeting in a blue one. When it’s time for the meeting, you just grab the file and go!

Ditch the Clutter

Clutter, clutter everywhere… Even the most organized workspace can get cluttered at some point. When this happens, it is important to get rid of that clutter as soon as you possibly can. If you’re looking for something and can’t find it because there’s stuff all over, your productivity will start to go down. The more organized your workspace is, the more you will be able to get done!

Make a List

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of crossing something of your To Do List. Making a list (and checking it twice!) will help you make sure everything gets done. Try breaking up your weekly To Do List into smaller lists for the different days of the week. This will keep you even more organized, and when you’ve crossed out all the things on a day’s list you will feel more accomplished.
