Your employees and colleagues are not the only inhabitants of a building that should feel valued. In fact, when they enter, any guests, visitors, and yes, potential patients should be valued just as much. If not more, for that matter. Here are some great tips for furnishing a reception room and making it the most welcoming aspect of your building.

Reception Room Seating Options

Seating is one of the most important elements in any office building. When guests come in, they’ll want someplace comfy to sit down. Whether they are patients or are just visiting, it’s likely they’ll have to wait to be seen.

Ergonomics and storage are important factors to consider, as well. Not only will guests and visitors want to avail themselves of the reception, but the receptionists need to be able to do so, too. Regardless of its intended purpose, make sure all seating in the reception area is easy to clean and maintain.

Consider Adding Tables to the Reception Room

Tables are another essential element of a good reception room:

  • Side tables and end tables are useful for setting down drinks, books, magazines, and other such items.
  • Coffee tables are also common elements of any reception area, for lounging purposes or not. Coffee tables anchor a room and can serve as an aesthetic focal point.
  • Sofa or console tables are another possible option. They add decoration and storage potential to a room. But they are best used when up against a wall, on the edges of the room rather than in the center.

Think about Various Entertainment Possibilities

Books and magazines can only be so entertaining for so long. Consider keeping TVs in your reception room. Media entertainment centers can also act as TV stands. TV stands can help organize the area around a TV, too. These furnishings can all be matched to the rest of the furniture, or stand out with a surprising, sleek look.

Remote controls and manuals can be kept on TV stands to increase storage potential and to prevent these necessary items from getting lost amidst the hectic pace of any reception room.
